Bang for the Buck AR Trigger
« on: February 09, 2022, 08:35:54 AM »
I can't stand the mil-spec trigger on my AR. It came in a basic lower parts kit and it needs to go.

Who's got some experience with AR triggers and can recommend one around $150? Please tell me if I'm smoking Brandon's crack pipe for asking for a decent trigger at this price range.

I have these on a few ARs.  They go on sale at Palmetto State and other places quite often for $119.99.  I love these triggers

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't know if I'd like the feel of a straight trigger and 2.5lbs sounds a bit light. The Timney may fit the bill. I'll let this thread marinate for the rest of the day and am going to order the curved Timney tonight if no one pops in with other suggestions.

+1 for larue. FANTASTIC triggers for the money.

Unbelievable difference for my AR.  Can be found for less if you shop. I went with the SD E.

https://www.larue.com/category/parts-accessories/lower-parts/triggers/ OR if you have a little more in the budget https://geissele.com/triggers.html

My AR literally sits in the safe for 10 months out of the year and only comes out to excite my non-gun friends, or to go shoot winter coyotes. Which is why I'm looking for a trigger now  :chuckle: A $300+ trigger makes no sense for me ;) Thanks for the Larue link.

Thanks for the input, Karl! Do you have any experience to compare the Larue 2 stage to the CMC or the Timney? I don't mind spending an extra $50 if it's going to be worth it.

I like these.

Thanks, I'm into the curved trigger!

Which of the whopping 25 triggers did you get?

I have 4-5 CMC triggers in different AR's and they've all been great.  I've bought most of them from this place and been very satisfied with their service, free shipping too.

I own a couple of Rise Armament Rave 140 triggers and a couple of POF triggers and I've been happy with both. You can find the Rave 140s sometimes on sale for $100-120. I just looked at the POF trigger price and they went up a lot since I bought one ($200 vs. $130 I spent for mine a couple of years ago).

Most of my friends have Elftmann or Larue triggers and they are happy with them.

I got my RRA two-stage as part of my LPK and it's excellent.
$150 for everything.

Phildo, I went down the same rabbit hole as you. Ended up with a timney, cmc, and a larue. For my needs the larue was the winner. Thats just me though. I'm a bolt gun guy. AR's are wildly unexciting to me.
