Iceman Memorial Turkey hunt
« on: April 08, 2022, 10:25:12 AM »
Hey all. A little late getting this story out there as its been a busy week. My son Wesley was the other lucky winner of the memorial hunt. Here is his story!

"Hi am a Wesley and I am 10 years old. My dad put my name in for a turkey hunt and I won. He told me at my birthday party and I was really excited. My dad and I had to drive a long way to get there but it was a fun drive. When we got there me met other kids and our guide. We got to go shooting and I enjoyed that. My gun shoots really well. We spent time that day talking to the other people and meeting Dale and his wife. Everyone is so friendly. We went to bed that night and I couldn't sleep. The morning of the hunt we saw lots of turkeys but couldn't shoot one because they were too far away. It was fun being with my dad and seeing animals. We even had a huge rainstorm with hail blowing into our blind. We went back hunting that evening and we saw so many turkeys but they were far away. Finally they started moving to the blind. SO many birds were coming in. My dad and Zack had to keep telling me to be patient and I was getting so nervous that they wouldn't come closer. We had hens all the way to the blind. Finally the Tom I wanted to shoot came to 15 yards from the blind. He had a lot of girlfriends with him so I had to wait over 10 minutes for him to be by himself. My heart was beating so fast. My shotgun felt like it weighed a hundred pounds as I tried to sit there without moving and aiming at him. Finally he was by himself and Zack told me to shoot him. I shot him right in the head and he fell over. I was so excited and my dad was very excited too. I had so much fun on this trip and I want to say thank you to everyone for doing this"

Okay dad here. I want to just say thank you again to Dale and his wife for giving this opportunity to kids to do this hunt. Also to Zack who is a top notch guide and a really nice guy. Thank you to everyone that donated something as well. We had a great time and I definitely have a turkey hunting partner for life now!
