Kettle range- East Okanagan bull moose!
« on: June 15, 2022, 06:47:04 AM »
Unbelieveable, the wife and son in law drew this with 11 points combined.  They drew cow moose last year in Huckleberry, I drew bull moose in 2019 in selkirk.  I've hunted the republic area in the past for deer but never saw moose.  So I'm reaching out to anyone who is willing to help with some intel???  We will be putting boots on the ground and gas is going to be a killer, but looking forward to hunting moose again.  I've heard this is the land of big bull moose, just don't know where to start.  Thanks for any help huntwa family.

Congratulations on the good luck for your wife and son in law. I think I had Kettle as my 4th choice. Should be a really fun hunt but I do wonder how tough it might be to find moose, looking at the statistics from last year it took 23 days per kill. And only 8 out of 10 hunters harvested a moose. Hopefully that was only due to people holding out for bigger bulls, and not due to numbers being way down because of the wolves.

Oh, and there is some general information in the WDFW Hunting Prospects if you want to check that out. All they have right now is the 2021 prospects but it's probably not going to be any different as far as areas they recommend looking at to find moose.

I think the people that couldn’t fill their tag probably had time restraints and or had some kind of unforeseen issues come up. There’s plenty of moose around the 3 units available for that tag.
