PM Sent. I'm not familiar with the unit boundaries on this tag but I know where two moose were standing a few days ago! Lol

True that, it’s hot today!!!  Saw one lone cow at 11:30,  about half the moose hunters are in the same area, lol.

Good luck Jerry.   Keep covering area and you’ll be fine.   Hope the rut has kicked in

Thats only 5 people herding them in circles. Doesn't seem like a lot of pressure for such a large area.

Another long hot day, zero animals seen.  We did find where a bull was this morning, fresh rut pit, tracks and poop! I think we scared him off w the quads.  Going to go back in the morning and do some calling, hopefully he’s still around.  This warm weather is crazy!

He won’t go far, get in before daylight and call. They are now rutting hard, I’m seeing them all over north Idaho.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

Well, we got in just before dark, called about every 20 minutes. Couple cow calls, few grunts at a time.  Stayed for 1.5 hours and nothing, his rut pit doesn’t stink so he’s prob not around now.  We have seen no rut action so far, a guide I’m talking to saw 2 bulls yesterday just standing around each other, he tried to get them out of the thick stuff for a client and they wouldn’t make a sound.  There was a cow in the area and they weren’t interested??  Not sure what’s going on, even w the heat, don’t they still have a time clock for breeding?? Going to try a different area and road hunt the cuts east of curlew tonight.  Everyone is telling me it’s pointless to hunt moose in this heat in the middle of the day, I’m starting to believe that!

Neighbor ran into a moose chaser 2 days ago. He said that his name was Brian. He has been scouting for the last two months. If he is a member I won't disclose his location.  But send me a pm.

You need a cold night, even one could get them interested.  I remember hunting WA in 2003 and it was a brutal heat week, hot like this, we stopped after a couple days and came back in November once it was cold and leaves had fallen and it was much better.  We only saw a few small bulls during those first couple days, I had a cow only tag.
