Just logged into me teenage son's account, he got a MS leftover tag. He's stoked, plans to bowhunt deer in September for the 1st time.  The MS tag is a clunky system, pre-paid tag/apps would be a better way to do it but the refund process would be a PIA. People's credit card accounts expire, and post mailing checks requires a lot of labor and postage. USPS loses checks, people think its junk mail when a refund is sent, etc. etc. I work in the outfitting business and refund checks never go as smooth as you wish it would. I can see users being more frustrated trying to get their $139 back haha.   :chuckle:

I like the idea of the new system having a "2nd round" of winning applicants but they have some things to improve for sure.

Other states do it without any issues. Credit cards would be refunded when the first draw is run, within the monthly billing statement.

Did your son get an email or something saying he drew?

Not yet, just logged in. There is no option to purchase online. My biggest frustration with the entire system is for those of us that chose our weapon type before the draw - it requires you to go down and forfeit your existing tag. It's been super frustrating as the clerk typically has no idea what to do. They often call Olympia and sort it out. I wish you could just buy it online, and agree to destroy your existing tag.

Seem like if you apply for Multi, they should not send you your tag until after the draw.

Going in to exchange my elk tag here shortly!  Another idea, I think if you draw a second chance tag, it should be half price since the biggest reason to buy these tags has expired.

Well, you do get the bonus of a multi season tag without losing your points.

Anybody having an issue purchasing a tag?  My account says "Customer does not have an active, required certification: Hunters Education"

My brother is having the same problem purchasing his Multiseason tag

As I mentioned, I spoke with WDFW at length on this. My primary concern was they published one process and changed to another after the special permit draw. I, like many others, based my entire deer special permit application strategy on what they had published and knowing that if  I was in line on time, there’s was nearly a 100% chance I could buy a leftover multiseason deer tag OTC. I have a pretty premier summer buck spot that I “pay” for with immense tractor work and other help through the year. I have been hunting for years on this spot with a Sep archery tag and I’ve already done the brush work with the tractor, set the blind up, etc… I’ve hunted this spot long enough to know that after about the 3rd week in September all the bucks disappear. This year I bought and applied for rifle special hunts in dream units after not getting drawn for a multiseason deer tag because I knew I could buy one if I got in line early. To change it after the draw feels like a bait and switch. I would have bought archery if they had tested their system, discovered this problem earlier, and announced the change earlier. Now they are saying it may be after the archery season is over before they sell all the multiseason tags based on the process I layer out in an earlier post. Pretty ticked by this.

This is ridiculous and I don't see how it's legal. Like you, this significantly impacts my plans and I've invested time and money. Anyone know a good lawyer? This is a BIG deal and needs to be rectified.
