RWS No. 55 caps?
« on: August 04, 2022, 08:27:17 PM »
Does anybody know anything about these caps. The only thing I can find is that they are the same diameter as the No. 11s but with a longer skirt.

Curious how the compare to the No. 11s as far as how hot they are and how waterproof they are. Also wondering if anybody has tried them in their muzzleloader

Thanks for the input. I found that also. But haven't been able to find anything else. I'm hoping their as hot and waterproof as the 1075s.
I have a tin of them and don't remember where I even got them.

Temp wise I think there is a good possibility that they are the same as the 1075+.  But I am a bit worried about the increased length of the squirt possibly interring with the correct crush of the cap.  Most #11 nipple posts are or have tapered structure to them.  If the taper causes the cap not to push down all the way onto the nipple it could be a problem.  I really would suggest placing the nipple on the post with a capper that allows you to really push with pressure to ensure the cap is tightly seated.

Then again... giving RWS credit they might know exactly what they built.  Wish I had some to try - but until this post I didn't know they even existed. If you got them I sure would shoot some.

One thing once installed - the only way you might get them off is to shoot them off or peel them off with the edge of a Knife blade.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
