Decoys that attach to your bow, thoughts??
« on: September 06, 2022, 12:24:47 PM »
I’m wondering what those of you who have tried these think about them? It seems like a good product to have, especially if you get busted (by sight only) in the woods by your prey.  I’ll try to find a link to Ultimate predator    Looking at the elk decoy that attaches to your bow.

I have one of the Poison Arrow decoys. I haven't tried to enter a herd with one yet but I did fool a deer with it. I like 'em.

They're awesome.

They buy you much needed time to get your shot in when playing the close quarters game with animals. I closed from 180 yards to getting a shot off at 60 yards on a nice buck this weekend in nearly zero cover by going slow with a doe version (has detachable antlers). Does ran up to me, and went behind me looking for something else. They know something is fishy, but don't get spooked as quickly. Well worth it if you are able to carry it around IMO.

It will blow your mind and you feel like an absolute champion fooling game with them. Definitely recommend having it in your arsenal.

I have this same decoy. It helps and hinders IMO. You can get away with movement, save yourself when you get busted and close distance in open ground. You do need to "present" the decoy in a strategic way. I've had deer accept me at close range and I have had them bolt on sight. The decoy does become awkward in brush when attached to your bow. Also if it's wet or dirty in can be annoying. Overall It is a useful trick to have and I will continue to deploy it. I have thought about the cow too but have not pulled the trigger. I do wear an orange hat and use the orange straps on the decoy.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

Even with the orange bands on the ears I would be worried about someone putting an arrow in me. Or bullet, if the person is poaching.
Looks like a good idea overall though.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!
