This is the best story I’ve ever read on this forum. I’ve got to tell you this.
I can tell that this hunt, both of those men and your experiences mean so much to you and your son. I envy you, bud, I really do. I look forward to the day when my boy is ready.

Hunt WA, and hunting in general needs more of this. No chest thumping. No bragging about how far and how high; no theatrics or gear endorsements. Just a father and son, enjoying our Lord’s creation together, via a man who believed in what you were trying to accomplish. God Bless you, your son, Mr. Bill and gentlemen Cal. You are the Champ. Best story on this forum. I mean that.
:yeah:  Well said      Great story one of the few i've read the whole thing props up to you dad for making a forever hunter !

I love this.  Good tribute to your friend and mentor, and a nice testament to hunters good will towards one another.  I hope we are all like Bill one day.  If we want the sport that we love to expand and persist we should all try to act that way.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

What a moving story. It sounds like you're a long way from being in a rocking chair on the front porch, but when you're there, you will have memories to fill many lifetimes.
