Buy a V3X or wait?
« on: October 06, 2022, 07:40:36 AM »
I’m in the market for a v3x. 2023 Mathews are coming out November-December.  I love to shoot and want to get started right away (very impatient) with a new bow instead of my old bear.   By the time new Mathews come out it will be too cold to shoot outside.  Also how much can Mathews really improve on the v3x to warrant a new model.  They are also being very quiet about any new bow leaks. Anybody have to info on them?

I don't have any special info, and I'm in the same boat as you. Using my current bow through this season but I am shopping for a fresh new bow.

I have a hunch the V3X will be relatively unchanged...

I'd wait. If you don't like the newest offering you should be able to find a used v3x for a better price than buying new now. There will be plenty of people who get the new offering and sell off their last year's model. Archerytalk classifieds would be the place to look.  :twocents:

This close to 2023 release, I'd wait for sure.

Plus it will give you time to come to your senses and not buy Mathews. Bowtech Baby!!!

Just kidding about the not buying Mathews part. Just wanted to make some heads explode on a Thursday morning. :chuckle:

Like a Bowtech limb?  :chuckle:
I had to with that setup.. :tung:
IMO, The 2023 bow will be the same as the last 10 years. Only thing that’s truly changed is the price and weight have gone up. I’d save hundereds and get a previous years flagship with the same or better performance than the shiny new thing.

If your worried about missing the latest product release you will never get one lol. I say go shoot one now and if it feels amazing take er home. I'm not sure next years models are always better every year, just different to sell more bows. Good luck.

Wait and then buy a used v3 or v3x when someone else wants the newest. I bought my v3 27 for 600$ on archerytalk used earlier this year. I would go shoot one at a shop and decide what axle to axle you want and then wait for a used one to come up for sale then pounce on it. Good luck

I would wait and buy used for sure.  Tell the bow shop what you want and leave your number.

When they decided to release a "new" bow every year they really struck gold.

X2 if the new model isn’t worth it to you. You will get the last years model at a much better price.

Right on. Pretty sure I will just buy the v3x. It’s already discounted 100$ at a big name store in preparation for the 2023 release.  The pro shop closer to me that sells them is SVA, which I’ve never been in but I’ve read some unpleasant opinions about them on this forum. They seem pretty straightforward on YouTube, at least the one guy “mfjj”, must be the owner.  That shop is the only place I can shoot a 29 and 33

If you like the bow, get one!! I doubt you will see major changes from Mathews this year. Unless you are upgrading annually IMO your better off not getting a bow that hasn't had time to be a proven platform.  It seems that often with big changes there are bugs to work out that are not really found till the bows hit consumer hands in mass.

If you have good knowledge of what you're looking at and doing your own setups, going used is smart. Otherwise pay the extra for the knowledge and get setup correctly. Also, this is a great time to buy a bow as its usually the slowest time of year for pro shops.
