North Central Late archery mule deer advice...
« on: November 10, 2022, 10:28:55 AM »
Hey guys,  i have hunted washington for years but never hunted the late archery mule deer season,

I have a couple areas picked out in different units,
The weather seems like its already effecting the movement of deer,

Has the rut started?
I have the option to hunt 3 days would you recommend  Nov 21-23 or Nov 28-30?

Any advice for preparing? Road conditions?

Thanks Kevin

Bring chains for all 4 and put them on BEFORE you start sliding back down the hill.

I had to put chains on up there once after sliding backwards 50ft half on the road half off. Luckily I didn't hit anything. Now they go on at the bottom if I think I'll need them at all.

Tagging along want to know from the experienced late muley hunters too!

IMO hunting earlier in the season is better due to less deer have been bothered for a while and the muley rut could still be cracking esp with younger or un bred does.

what area are you looking. I know places in NCW that have gotten over 3 feet of snow

If you are going to go buy some micro spikes for your boots. On and off in seconds and are a life safer if hiking is slick from ice or snow.

I'd hunt the week of Thanks Giving

This year the best advice you will probably get is find a good place for your ground blind, because there is probably going to be a bunch of crunchy snow
