WTB S&W 3913 or 6906
« on: December 30, 2022, 09:46:48 AM »
I'm looking for a Smith & Wesson 3913 or 6906. I'd appreciate any info on where I might find one, used gun shops, pawn shops, etc. I'd rather not purchase online. Thanks.

Given when these were at there most popular I bet there’s a ton of them out there locked in gun safes that haven’t seen the light of day in awhile. The trick will be finding one. I’m curious what draws you to these? I personally think they’re a way overlooked pistol and am a real fan.

You may be right. I see a real uptick in the online prices on these S&W series pistols and that may be one of the reasons. I always liked the original Model 39 pistol, which these are based on. To me, the 3913 in it's various forms was the culmination of all the improvements to the 39, my favorite difference being it's size and weight. I've always thought it may be the perfect 9mm for me. I was a police officer in the late 1970's for a brief time and jumped on the Model 59 bandwagon and used one for awhile, so I'm very familiar with it's controls and function. I really don't mind that long first trigger pull on these designs and the single action trigger more than makes up for it, and is far better than the triggers on modern semiautos IMO. These series of single stack 9mm's fit my hand better than just about any pistol I've ever held, with the exception of my Colt Lightweight Commander.

Rehv Arms in Covington had a 6906 for $299 as of Friday evening.  Pretty rough shape cosmetically but seemed OK otherwise.

No problem.  Almost got it to go with my 915.  I need to shoot this manual of arms a lot, or not at all.  I've run it in a couple of matches and still have to think about the condition more than necessary.

If you get it I would budget for a set of sights.

Thank you very much. Is this a photo of the actual gun? If so, is the right side of the gun in similar condition?

Gun in the pic is a 915. 5900 series size. Had a 5906 and 915 in the early to late 90s. Great guns!  I would by another today if available and I could get mags.

I still have a Model 59 mag I had from my pistol in the 70's and as I understand it they will work in a 6906, although they will extend out from the mag well a bit.
