My best find of the year so far. Have 2 wolf tags left that I’ve bought and going to put some footholds out for a few days in the vicinity of his carcass.

I've scooped a great volume of deer sheds this year. My labrador has brought me most of them, she's a stud!

My best this year though, was this 4 point, and I found it, not my dog  :chuckle: That first pic is it strapped to my EXO 3200 pack, total unit of an antler.

I found one side, and my friend found the other side. He had them mounted on a skull for me and gifted me his side for my birthday. Best gift I've ever received.

Hard to know the true spread of this buck, but we scored it roughly 163"

That's a good girl you have there phildo. One mine got a nose for birds his priorities were set. Any tips on making antlers more rewarding?

I made a chronic effort to play with her with antlers while she was getting started, and I always brought her out with me when I'd go shed hunting.

I used antler scent on antlers, and would make her sit and stay and I'd hide antlers around the house and say "find the shed!" and make her look through the whole house and all the smells inside the house to find the sheds and she began to bring them to me one by one. I also have sheds all over my house, and she will never grab them off a table or something unless I tell her to go get one. She knows they're not for her, unless I tell her it is. She absolutely LOVES smelling the bases/pedicel of the antlers, and I let her dig into it with her nose as much as she wants.

Whenever we go out on a shed mission, I bring a shed with me and when we get out of the truck, I show her the shed and say "this is what we're after!" and I'll let her see me go hide it, and then tell her to go get it. Then she knows what we're doing and knows we're not just out for a jolly ol' stroll in the woods.

Anytime I glass a shed, or see a shed before she gets to it, I lead her near it and make sure I'm giving her the "find the shed!" command and really gas her up and when she finally finds it, I give her a piece of jerky and really amp her up and get her excited and jumpy about it. I will never just pick up a shed with my hands anymore, I make her do it for each one I see.

Contrary to what a lot of people say, I will literally give her the tiny forky sheds as a treat and let her eat it at the end of the day so she not only wants to bring them to me for me, but so she can have a piece of the pie. She has not only developed a nose for the antlers, but the sight. I've seen her see the shed before she smells it and she gets jacked and runs to go get it. She will dig antlers up through snow and matted grass, so when she stops and digs, I let her discover what she was smelling.

Now she brings me sheds out of nowhere and I'll have absolutely zero clue where she got them from

Took a hike yesterday with my wife and found a few.  I found the two larger ones she found the smaller ones snd the elk antler.  Pretty good day.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
