WTB: 12 Gauge O/U - Prefer Ruger, CZ, Browning, or Franchi
« on: January 25, 2023, 09:20:03 AM »
Title says it all:

I'm looking to find a 12 Gauge O/U shotgun to replace the one I gifted to my son. I loved shooting the Ruger Red Label I had and would love to have another one or something similar back in my gun safe for trap/skeet shooting and/or upland hunting. I'm not looking for a safe queen - it can have some wear.

What do you have?
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

Be careful and do some research on what you actually want.  Ruger does not support Red Labels anymore.  CZ shotguns are just Turkish imports that will not last.  A browning Citori can be worked on by anyone and will last a couple of lifetimes with standard used and care.  If you can find a CX it might be your best choice.  60/40 with a 3" chamber

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the Browning CX.

I did a quick search on gunbroker, holy cow they have more than double in price.  8 years ago my kid bought one from Cabelas for $1299 new.  Guess those days are over.  Ouch.

Nothing but praise for my CZ Uplander. Only $600 so I'm not worried about wear - and only weighs about 5lbs. Kicks like a mule but a slip on butt pad did the trick.

I have a Franchi Instinct LX in 12ga and a Franchi Instinct L in 20ga. They are both excellent firearms with perfect fit/finish and great reliability. I’ve never had a single function issue out of either after thousands of rounds. Good luck.
God Bless America!!!
