WTS-Marlin 444 XLR
« on: February 19, 2023, 01:13:06 PM »
Would like to sell my Marlin 444 XLR. The barrel was cut down to about 18.5" and has a scout optic mount. Never got around to having the front sight holes re-drilled as I had a RDS on it. This rifle is well used and hunted with. Will come with 62 rounds of ammo(10 buffalo bore, 12 Remington, 40 leverevolution) and never used set of Lee reloading dies. It should be JM marked under the scout mount, as all the XLR's were made during that time. Rifle is located in Cle Elum, WA and would prefer to do FFL transfer here. To be honest I would love to keep this but I've seen the prices on these have gone way up.  Prices seem to be all over the place even up above 2.5k and I really need the cash right now but want to be somewhat fair. So how about $1400.

Nice rifle….had the barrel not been cut, I would have bought it today.

Out of curiosity, who cut the barrel and can you provide a picture of the barrel EMS where the work was done.  Was it tapped for a front site?

Barrel work was done by gunsmith in Ellensburg about 15 years ago, can't even recall his name (Dan maybe?) and as the ad says I never had front sight holes tapped. I know it takes away from the value of it but at the time 24" of barrel on a lever gun conflicts from the intended purpose of what I was using it for hunting in thick timber and using it as a "guide gun" when I took friends out bear hunting.

Hey, didn't mean to bump a nerve and clearly missed the font sight not being tapped in the original post.  Good luck with selling it, it will make someone very happy.

That 444 Marlin is a cool round.

Like a 45/70 on super steroids.

AWESOME!!

I wish I lived closer. I would totally be all over that!

The XLRs were too long and not practical for the west side.  You did good cutting it down.

Good luck with your sale.
