Need a Service manual for Ford 250
«
on:
March 20, 2023, 04:47:52 AM »
Purchased a 92 F-250 last year and having some electrical issues .
Haynes is about worthless.
Usual ebay options seem to think they have gold woven in to their factory service manuals.
150-300 $.
Has anybody used the CD Rom versions that LMC and others offer ?
Thanks for any heads up.

Yes,I already have the same one.
Thanks for the offer.
Just kinda stuck on Fords way of doing things without a wiring diagram.
Owned mostly Dodge and Jeeps .
Just trying to do simple things like adjusting the idle speed when I dont know what Im looking for is frustrating.
Just dont want to spend 150-250 on a factory manual if a 25-50 $ cd will do the same thing.

You’re going to have a hard time finding anyone who uses cd rom’s these days.
You might check YouTube for whatever problem you’re having.
Not sure if Chilton manuals are any better than Haynes manuals. Pretty sure you can get them online in pdf form.
Also a subscription to AllData might work. Not sure of the cost of it.

All my computers have CD drives.
Browsing a scanned pdf is easy and fast
Tried all data once, found it to be cumbersome to navigate and find what you need.

What exactly are you looking for?
I can copy and post screen shots with the best of 'em. I use AllData multiple times a day.
Example of AllData info... I don't know specifics on your truck, but I used a 92 F250 4x4 with a 5.8 gas engine and I searched "idle speed" and this is one of the things I came up with. I've found it super easy.
CAUTION: DO NOT use this cleaning procedure on the Nippondenso Idle Air Bypass valves, service is limited to replacement only. These valves may be identified by their black plastic housing, and by a yellow and black warning label affixed to the valve housing and/or the throttle body.
RECOMMENDED CLEANING PROCEDURE
1. Verify bypass actuator is operating properly.
2. Remove throttle inlet air tube.
3. Connect the Rotunda Air Bypass Actuator 113-00009 and Injector Tester/ Cleaner 113-00001 or equivalent.
4. START the actuator and then START the engine. DO NOT start engines of vehicles equipped with airflow meters.
5. Spray carburetor cleaner into idle air bypass valve inlet for 5 seconds while actuator is operating.
6. Turn OFF actuator and START engine.
7. Spray carburetor cleaner into idle air bypass passage for no more that six seconds.
8. Turn OFF actuator and stop engine if running.
9. Install intake air tube. START actuator and engine for one minute.
10. Disconnect actuator from the bypass valve. Reconnect electrical connector to the bypass valve.
11. START engine and verify proper operation.
ALTERNATE CLEANING PROCEDURE
1. Remove Air Bypass Valve from the vehicle.
2. Remove the electrical solenoid assembly from mechanical portion of the Air Bypass Valve by removing the two screws, then sliding the mechanical portion away from the solenoid.
3. Soak the mechanical portion in carburetor cleaner.
CAUTION: Do not exceed three minutes soak time, and do not use choke cleaner, as an internal O-ring may begin to deteriorate.
4. With the mechanical portion completely submerged shake in all directions. Then push in on the rod that mates with the solenoid assembly, and again shake in all directions with the unit submerged and the rod held in as far as possible.
5. Remove the mechanical portion from the cleaning fluid and dry out thoroughly using shop air.
6. Assemble and install the valve.
7. Check idle speed.

It was only $25.
Hope its a good scan.
Went the same route with my 94 Jeep and the wifes BMW.
Downloaded those versions.

Received the CD today.
Its a digital copy of dealers service manual.
2 volumes on 1 CD.
Engine,Body,Chassis and electrical.
About 3200 pages.
LMC has a fine product if you need a manual.
Highly recommended.
Well now comes the fun part, trouble shooting.
