Small Frame Diaphragm Turkey Calls
« on: March 30, 2023, 06:53:59 AM »
Any recommendations on small frame diaphragm turkey calls? The Legacy small frame calls are a bit too big and the Woodhaven have a bit too little tape on them, hard to get a seal.

For elk calls, the mini amp's are just about perfect for reference.

You can trim down the tape.  Just take a small amount off at a time.  Like a scissors blade width at a time.

I might try that with last season's calls. I've heard it can get stringy, frayed ends. Is it just a matter of using super sharp scissors?

Yes don't use crappy scissors.

Just use the elk calls for turkey hunting.

Hmm, they have the metal piece in them. Never tried to turkey call it one like that. Might be worth a shot lol.

I just looked at them, sorry I didn't realize they had that little piece of metal.  Give it a shot and see if they work.  :)  If not I would just use some really nice sharp scissors and trim the regular calls down until they fit you.

Elk calls will work, but they don't  very in call tone and not raspy
