Anyone finding any morels yet? Im going to head out this weekend.

I found a few westsiders last month, a first for me.

Got into some eastside morels in a two year old burn last weekend, mostly small ones. Appeared to be the first batch of the year. 2500 FT. Not an easy affair with all the fresh understory but they were out.

Found some here Saturday, all the times I’ve turkey hunting never found any. How long do they last in the fridge?

Couple of weeks, maybe.  If I get a bunch I usually dehydrate them and keep them in the freezer.

Daughter and I filled up about 1/2 a brown paper lunch bag with em this weekend. Same burn from 2018 we got em on last year. Same week as last year.

we found 3# in our front yard yesterday!  We're on the west side and have never seen one in our yard but last summer we had several cottonwoods taken out and we spread the chips around the gardens.  That's where they were.  What an amazing surprise!

Check out mushroom wonderland on Youtube, on one of his recent videos he was talking about cottonwoods and morels, pretty interesting. He did the trim work on my house 2 years ago when it was built.

Thanks for the suggestion, good info!  We've had standing cottonwoods for years and always checked for morels around them without ever seeing one.  Once we spread the chips out they popped like crazy!  I wonder if that was because of the chips or just because we haven't mowed the lawn yet this year?
