Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Litter is here
« on: May 10, 2023, 12:45:16 PM »
**** 7 reserved 3 available.

***Updates on page 2.  Pups started on wing.  6 reserved 4 available.

**4 week & vet visit update added.

*Colored collars on and 3 week weight results added to bottom of thread.  Price reduction updated in posts as well.

10 Puppies whelped 5/22 all happy and healthy (5M, 5F).  Will be 8 weeks on July 17th so ready to take home anytime after.  Price is $800 with 25% down to hold, open to full/partial trades from HW members.  Located in Skagit County with Parents on site, more details about pups and parents below.

Pups will be getting standard worming's, vet health inspection checkup, and first shots before going home.  This is a hunting bread and these are hunting dogs so leaving tails undocked and dewclaws intact for added stability and traction when climbing, cutting, or retrieving through ice.  People have varied views on this but I have never had a tail injury on a long tailed hunting dog and lots of recent research is showing that the dew claws are not so "useless" after all.  Regardless, both can be removed/docked to preferred length by future owner with minor surgical procedure if wanted (US breed standard is 1/3-1/2 length, UK & Canadian is undocked).

Bodhi is a 4.5yo fully registered AKC WPG from Marks' Griffons in the Mill Creek area.  He's a great hunting partner and family dog who loves his people and great with people, kids, & babies.  Water retrieves well, steady in the blind, and hunts close when doing field work which is characteristic of the breed.  Focused in the field with a stylish point, he hunts hard but is disciplined and efficient enough to go multiple days in a row.  Great nose and very versatile.  I primarily hunt him for waterfowl, grouse, & pheasant, but have successfully used him on sheds, rabbits, rats, coons, coyotes and more recently blood trailing to successfully recover wounded deer and elk.

Cider is a 23mo WPG, currently unpapered out of Yakima/Tri-cities area.  She's super energetic and hard charging in the field been a great complement to Bodhi due to her wider range.  Smart and eager to please she's learned well from Bodhi and is developing into a good hunter on her own.  I've only had her out by herself just a few times but am impressed with nosework, trailing, and drive.  She's been successful on sheds, grouse and pheasant to date.

Initial photos and information attached.  More info will be added as it becomes available or when puppies are born.  You can also track us on the FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/189282690689064/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=189720227311977

Going in for x-rays on Monday to get a head count.   Will post quantity once results are in.   :IBCOOL:

Got a lot of prep work to do this weekend and all the family is out of town so hope they don't come early!    :dunno:

Well the dog decided to save me some money and skip the x-rays altogether!  Went into labor staring about 10 last night with a puppy coming on average every hour until 8 this morning!  It was a great experience but made work suck today.

Have 10 beautiful happy healthy pups and this first time mother is doing phenomenal.  5M 5F will be ready to go home at 8 weeks on 7/17 so basically the 3rd weekend in July.  Do to issues getting the mothers paperwork in time these will be non-AKC registerable dogs and priced to reflect.  They will be hunting machines like the parents and I expect great temperaments just like them as well.  Dam let my youngest help with delivery and care today as well as allowed the sire around her and the litter this afternoon.

Interested in placing them in forever hunting homes but would consider a non hunting house only if very outdoor active and/or willing to participate in some sort of sporting dog activity.   Asking $800 total with a 25% non-refundable deposit to hold a pup.  Selection will happen at 6 weeks based upon order of deposit received.   Contract verbiage forthcoming but will be required to be in place and balance paid in full upon pickup.

Mom and pups have been doing great and putting on the weight!  Here is a nursing and grooming video you can hear their cute little squeaks in.

Pups and mom are all doing well.  She's been staying attentive but enjoying a bit more freedom and outside exercise these last couple of days.  Here is them out on a walk and then found a rabbit to stalk in the yard yesterday morning.

Also, Pups are 10 days old and all putting good weight on.  The colors are starting to show as some of them are starting to grey up and get their ticking or roan coming in.

3 spoken for, 7 remaining so if interested reply or PM to get your deposit in to hold.  Selection happening at 6 weeks, ready for homes after 8.

Lots for photos & videos both of hunting and family pets available so PM me if you want added to the FB page as its a closed group.

Thanks,
HH

Puppies were 2 weeks old on Monday and eyes are opening!  Still nursing and sleeping alot but starting to move around better, getting more curious and noisy.  As my youngest stated, they are starting to learn how to "puppy walk"  :chuckle:

3 reserved and a couple of others interested but still looking for deposits to place these in hunting homes.

Weekly Weigh In and price reduction due to non registered litter.   Still going to be fantastic hunting and home dogs.

Thanks Machias!  4 committed to homes already; 2 from elsewhere and 2 from HW with a couple others on here still deciding.

Realized I didn't have more closeup/current photos or sexes noted on the growth chart card.
Females: Pink, Purple, Yellow, Lilac, Red (no collar)
Males: Aqua, Black, Brown, Grey, Light Blue

We'd started them on puppy gruel last Tuesday so should have them fully weaned by 6 weeks.  First time they couldn't stay out of the food dish :bash: but quickly learned their place at the trough
