Skagit arms has 4 options. Not too far from you.

Just a PSA for anyone buying the 143 eldx precision hunter. Last week a friend and novice shooter came to me asking for advice as his prc was shooting really good and then it wasn't. He said his targets looked funny and sent me some pics. Bullets were tumbling and belly flopping on the target.

I got his rifle and all his ammo from him. He had 5 boxes of the stuff and was getting random tumblers from each box. I gave his rifle a good once over checking the crown for burs and bore scoping the chamber and lands and couldn't find anything out of whack. I mic'd every bullet that was still loaded and they were all the right diameter.  I loaded the empty brass he had with some 140 vld's and picked up a box of 147 eldm precision match and we shot again. Handloads and 147's shot awesome. The 143's continued to tumble.

Not sure what's going on there but I'm assuming there's a jacket bonding issue and they are spinning off :dunno: Double checked twist rate with a range rod and its definitely an 8 twist so over spinning isn't the issue. I don't have the lot number on me but I'll update when I get home. All 5 boxes were the same lot #

probably fine :dunno: I really thought I was gonna find a ding in his crown or something that was tearing jackets but I checked it twice with cotton balls and it's perfect. We put 50 rounds through it between the handloads and the box of precision match and it shot awesome. And to be clear not every 143 we fired tumbled. Can't speak to what he previously fired but when I shot it about 20% tumbled or I assume tumbled as most were missing the entire target board. Most would stack in a nice little group and then bam, 4ft low or off to the left or right. We actually only caught a few belly floppers on the actual target itself.

Something’s up with hornady, I reload and shoot 175 eldx in a 28 nosler. Had a box that had 3 22 caliber bullets in it. The same box I have had 4 tumblers recorded on paper with multiple random flyers. I have stoped using this box and contacted hornady. They sent me replacement bullets for the mis placed 22 caliber bullets but no explanation for the rest. So far no issues with the next box with different lot #.
