Observatory Branched antlered bulls. Big Bull Down!!!
« on: October 20, 2023, 07:39:31 PM »
Anyone seeing any branched antlered bulls in the Umtanum or Manastash  (Observatory) units. We are starting our special permit rifle branched antlered bull elk hunt on Monday. Figured some deer hunters in the units might have seen something special.  Any intel would be appreciated. Happy hunting to all and good luck to ya all!  Great time to be in the mountains!

Did you guys get it done? I’ve heard of a couple … one that lost one. Drawing the tag is the hardest part. I have 32 points! 🤦‍♂️ let know send me your contact info. I’ll help. I saw a 6pt Monday and got passed by allegedly a side by side with a bull tag and it was 300 yards away.
If you can see it....... you can shoot it.

Probably turning in poachers and getting bonus points

You’re correct .. I turned in a poacher … well kinda. I found a legal deer and the shooter came back for it that didn’t have a tag. Regardless. The last time I drew a tag was 2002 so regardless I would have 22 points. I have hunted this area for years and I’m already in contact to help the bull tag hunter out. It’s a team effort
If you can see it....... you can shoot it.

My hunting partner got it done yesterday with a real nice 6 point.  I'll post some pictures soon!!! Huge thanks to those that helped us get it done. Especially "Face72" and "Fireguy459".  They are great forum members and know what it is all about!  it was a great hunt with a great ending!!!  Except for the haul out!  That just about did me in!!!  Once again Tracy, Thanks!!!!!

Really cool to see the team effort here, and the harvest post that came from this is EPIC.

The story and picture are on a different thread here in the elk section. "Obsevatory hunt in the books" I do believe.
