It is absolutely crazy how many of them have been shot this fall as secondary animals. There has to have been close to 50 of them shot while hunting deer or elk posted on social media this fall. There has to be way more than most feel even possible. If we had 2600 in 1996 when hound hunting stopped, to have the 300 they say we have now they clearly have the same doing the math on cougar as wolves  :bash:.

Great job by the shooters regardless of where or why it's great to have them gone!

Arent almost all the cougar quotas filled every year? the quotas are stupid low.  Doesn't matter how many people start hunting cats until they raise the quotas or SSS I guess.

I haven't run the numbers in a few years but when I did about half the PMUs never fulfilled their target number. Mostly westside units came up short.

I thought I remembered darn near every unit being open in the late season last year.

I've been watching the last few years and all areas remain open except for about 5 that will reach their quotas.

I went empty handed on elk this year and this area still didn't have much elk sign in the late season and I believe it's because there are still more cats in there. The elk totally changed their patterns this year in that area. Hopefully they return next season.

I'm gonna say you are correct. There is more cats still in your area.
The two cats in the pickup look to be younger cats.
Moma and Papa cats are still slaying ungulates.
Just a guess on my part.
