Flying tomorrow. Headed to the Gunflint Saturday. Hitting the water Sunday morning. I’ll provide all the dirt in a little over a week. So excited. Currently freaking out about all the things I’m forgetting.

If you forgot it, you probably don’t need it.😉

Literally just sent this text to my buddy who’s also going:

Made it back to civilization last night. A great dinner and a couple cold ones at the lodge we book ended our trip at was the perfect icing on the cake. Driving back to Duluth now.
Fishing was off. It was 80-85 degrees and bluebird sunny almost every day. We caught a lot of smallies, maybe 15 total pike and 4 walleyes.  After talking to a bunch of people at portages and the lodge, seems like maybe we did better than average fishing. Scenery was absolutely amazing. Didn’t see any bears, wolves or moose but saw lots of other critters. Tons of different birds.

PS if anyone wants to go next year, hit me up. I’d go again tomorrow.

Man looks like such a great trip.
Tried the fly rods a couple times. Too much wind, big flies and in a canoe. Just was too much to put together. Plus all the fish we were catching were deep. Lots of smallies on crank baits. Even that 29” pike I caught on a #5 shad rap.

Glad you had a great trip.   See any Northern lights, should have been some. Definitely dark skies.

I’ll be honest with you. By the time 9pm rolled around, we were mostly sawing lumber. We didn’t see any northern lights. The stars were crazy and Thursday night Mother Nature threw us a going away party with the light show and all the noise. That was pretty awesome in the trees. Glad we weren’t on a lake somewhere.
