I have made my annual donation to the state's moose draw...

Used to be pretty excited about drawing... but I seem to see fewer and fewer moose while elk hunting every year and my enthusiasm is waning.

While we are guessing at draw results date I will just chime in and say anything later than next Monday is too late, it’s a simple draw with no points, no paper applications, and a very limited number of tags, it simply shouldn’t take any more than 1 week.

I’ve DEFINITELY noticed fewer moose in the last three yrs. I personally don’t think it’s just wolves, but don’t have an answer. Areas that I use to see quite a few have been void. The reason I don’t think it’s wolves are the numbers of trail cams I have out year round and have yet to see one on camera. Positive, elk numbers are up in my area.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

According to IDFG it’s warmer winters due to climate change allowing winter ticks to infest the moose. I personally think it is wolves because moose in the south hills of Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado have continued to thrive. The common theme with all of those places is a lack of wolves while moose north of the snake river, and in Montana and Wyoming and Washington continue to struggle with declining moose populations

Just got my rejection on the sheep tag.  Maybe my son will get lucky on the Moose.

No sheep tag for me or my 9 year old. I have got to figure out what to do to get off of the blacklist I’m obviously on. I also got my son on it by arguing with the ladies at the SW regional office when they tried to tell me he wasn’t eligible to apply

That is awesome! I spent a few weeks in that country hunting last year and seen plenty of goats! Should be a blast!
