Guess my heads been in the sand. Whats with weighted brass inserts? Always just purchased arrows and inserts to fit. So I’m assuming that they come in different weights and are used to gain arrow weight without the added cost of purchasing heavier broadheads?

same w me, no clue what my inserts weigh?  I shoot 100 grn shuttle T’s and they are devastating, huge hole.

Generally weighted inserts are used to add more overall weight to the arrow and specifically
to increase the weight in the arrow tip or front and find a sweet spot for arrow flight.

Depending on the arrow makes and models insert weight vary, but for most standard diameter aluminum inserts weigh around 20ish grains.

I mostly use 125 currently, but 100s have killed me lots of critters that don't know the difference

I shoot the G5 Stryker V2 in 125 gr and would never change. Fly true and have held together perfectly after shooting animals. I've had great results , as stated lots of right answers just find what works best for ur setup. Good luck.

Weighted inserts can do a few things. Add overall arrow weight, weaken spine to help with arrow tuning if necessary and improve FOC or arrow flight.

The brass inserts will screw into the bottom of your normal aluminum insert and yeah theyll typically come in 25gr, 50gr and 75gr

For trad bows and stump shooting the brass inserts add more strength over the cheap aluminum ones that come with arrows.

I run 125 gr Slick Trick magnums.  Great broadheads and fly exactly like my field points.

My total weight of my hunting arrow is 462 grains with broadhead. My F.O.C is 9.5%. Setup flies well. Is 9.5% too light? Hunt elk only.

to light to kill an elk?  No.  I really think the sweet spot for most of my set ups is about 12-16%.  I shoot a lighter arrow shaft like an Eason sonic and shoot 50 grain brass insert with a 125 grain head.

Recommend 125gr min broadhead. I run 125gr Radical Madmans with a 260gr collar + insert. Overall arrow weight is 502gr. I may swap to the magnus stinger buzzcuts just for science, but I have zero issue with the madmans so far.
