Opening day success
« on: August 01, 2024, 02:05:41 PM »
I had some luck today. I decided to hit a new spot for opening day. I was dragging my feet this morning and was late out the door- even forgot my coffee. I started walking around 5:45 this morning with intentions to find some sign and maybe some berries.
I did find some elk and deer sign but all the berries I crossed were still green.
I walked about 2.5 miles before I decided to take a detour towards the direction of my truck. As I was coming around the bend of an old logging road this sow came walking down the bank about 50 yards in front of me. She stopped in the middle of the road and posed for a shot.
I think next time I might hunt closer to the truck  :chuckle:. The pack out wore me out.
I was hunting from 300 ft to 1200 ft elevation and shot my bear around 750ft elevation. I guess she was eating some berries that have yellow seeds, from what I saw in the scat. I never saw any ripe berries outside the occasional blackberry.

That's a pretty cool mark on her chest. Congrats!!
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.
