I picked up a super redhawk in .454 last year and put an ultra dot on it. Probably won’t use it this year but I’m excited to practice with it more. Would love to take a deer with it.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I have a scoped encore in .243 that I have shot ground hogs and a coyote with.  I have yet to harvest a deer with it although I have tried a couple times.  Someday.

I have a Thompson Contender in 30-30, 2x Burris scope.   I've killed Bear, elk, deer and cougar with it, including a bear that attacked me.

I’ve got a ruger toklat 454 casull that I would love to whack a bear with.  Maybe I should be carrying it when I’m sitting on the water hole….shots are 20 yards or less.  Currently, I’m carrying my 450 marlin guide gun.   Hmmmmm…..I think I will give it a shot!!

I have shot numerous Deer with S&W 44 mag., lots of Bears with 41 mag, 44 mag, and various Contenders, and Buffalo with Freedom Arms 454 Casull, Coyotes with KelTec PMR30 .22 mag. I recently acquired a Ruger Super Redhawk in .22 Hornet, anxious to shoot a few Coyotes with this one. Plus, I put together a 460 Rowland to use on Bear this year...I've always enjoyed the challenge of Handgun hunting, it adds another element to hunting.

A bear that attacked you, and then you shot it?  please tell us the story, I think it would be fair to say that you have likely top 3 amount of hours in the field on this forum of everyone, likely have stories for days, but id love to hear about the bear attack if you have time to write it up.

If you’re going to hunt with a pistol, leave the rifle at home. I’ve shot big game, coyotes, and bobcats with .44mag, .44special, 30-06, .22-250, .22 mag, and .22 long rifle. Bear, cougar, whitetail, mule deer, coyote, bobcat. Course I’ve dispatched wolves in traps with various handguns, but that’s not hunting.

Anybody use a 10mm?
:hello: Had a Fusion 1911 longslide built in 10mm . Put a Trijicon RMR on it . Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet .

Shot a coyote with a 44 magnum Blackhawk. Looked like someone sprayed 5 gallons of blood behind it in the snow.

Going to try and harvest bear, deer and cougar with my 357 Blackhawk this year.

i am really interested in trying hand gun hunting, get to use your stalking and hunting skills like archery, but during rifle season.  what are the recommended calibers for eastern Washington terrain, whitetails, anyone used it for rattling time.  the close quarters, fast aim and shoot that people say you need in rattling im thinking the handgun may be beneficial.
