Sorry for your health
I sure wouldn’t let that tag go to waste. If nothing else get somebody to drive you around.

Wouldn't worry about missing the opener with that tag.
I doesn't get good until mid month anyway. Rest up and hit it hard when your ready.

I had the tag last year, going later is no big deal.  As the weather cools the moose will be more active.  There are lots of roads, cover ground and look where there is good feed in the morning and evening.  Remember moose hunting is not like deer hunting you will not see a bunch of moose every day, it could happen but seeing 2 or 3 is a good day.  Just cover ground, glass and call  you will find one.

I am writing this for my husband. He is hunting now without much luck. He went through everyone's kindly offered information and says he has been trying everything north, south, east and west of Flowery Trail, but has heard no moose talking and seen no moose signs. Nobody he has talked to has seen or heard moose either. He asked me to type a message here to ask if anyone has a better idea of where he should go. Thank you in advance for any suggestions to help make my hubby's dream come true and fill our freezer too!

Sounds like he is in the right spot, its a matter of time I'm sure.  Season is still early.

Just keep pounding the same spots every day. Doing your call sequence etc. rinse and repeat until one day, one will respond and it’s game on. When I had my tag in 2019, I put on 428 miles on my truck in 4 days and one morning. Just keep at it

Had tag in 22 didn't see a moose for 5 days then seen a bull everyday for 5 days after that. Seen quite a few bulls u Winchester. But there are literally moose everywhere around that unit.

Is he cow calling ..
Make sure he gives each set 30-40 minutes..
Bulls don't always come running in...and don't always make allot of noise when they do.

Following along for updates.  Good luck!

I am back at home. Resting, I had some medical problems the last day of my first week hunting. But I am happy to let everyone know that i got a bull. He is a monster to me any way I look at it. He may be puny to others, but after what I have gone through, I am just glad to be alive. So I am in touch with the Surgeon, and sounds like I will be going in for another surgery. But I promise I will get pics and story on here for everyone to read before I go in.
And thank you to everyone for the support and well wishes, along with all the good advice. Waiting for my brother-in-law to send me the pictures. David
