2024 Othello Fair Reserve Grand Champion
« on: September 12, 2024, 04:45:56 PM »
Fair season is coming to a close. It has been odd with my daughter being an "adult" and not showing. Only one kid to report on for Grant and Othello fairs. My son had a good Grant fair, showed well, earning blue ribbons, but oddly, no call backs.

Othello started rough. His Othello lamb had a difficult time gaining weight this summer, and slid into fair just over the minimum. It was built well, and I truly thought his lamb would get at least a call back in market against the other light lambs in his class. Not to be! Red Ribbon. Un real! My kids don't get Red ribbons!! Well, the judge was consistent and handed out a LOT of red ribbons in market. The Judge did well in my mind, like said, she was consistent and true. The Lamb administrator said he had to go dig out another box of red ribbons there were so many. Getting red was not as big of a blow, as a lot of good exhibitors earn there first reds this day. On to fitting and showing. He earned a call back, and showed well. In the final, his lamb was a little fidgety, but settled in nicely. My boy earned the FFA II (Junior/Senior) Fitting and Showing Reserve Grand Champion. So very proud of him. He worked his job all summer, had football starting in August, and still made time for his lamb project.

Nice job! Our kids had a great year at our local west valley fair with their home grown market goats with youngest taking grand, and oldest taking reserve grand. Then reserve grand breeding goat. Youngest got champion junior showman. At the grandview fair the oldest got reserve grand market goat and all 4 of their goats were in the final drive. Overall champion breeding goat, champion junior showman, and reserve champion intermediate showman!  I love seeing other members kids involved in 4h/ffa, and wish we saw more of it! These are the pics I love to see just as much or more than the hunting photos

Love it! Brings back good memories.

Indeed it does I loved my FFA.❤️

Nicely done to your son, it takes a lot of work.👍

Buglebuster tell your kids nicely done as well.👍

And parents thanks for being engaged with your kids, it’s the team work at home that makes kids successful in life.👍

Good stuff.

My kid didn’t participate in showing at the fair this year because volleyball has taken over her life, but she showed up for morning herds every day with her club and stayed to help a bunch of the littles in the barn this year. I think she was missing it.

:yeah: 💯  I did 4H and FFA, both great programs that created great memories and provided skills that I use to this day. I love seeing the younger generation keeping it going strong

Sounds like a great fair season for your family Buglebuster! Congratulations to your kids for all their success!!

Your daughter has good character and devotion to her club Jackelope! Good for her! Crazy how much the young ones pick up from the older ones. Good luck with volleyball.

We are heading to Oroville for football tonight. My boy would miss the awards ceremony at Othello fair today if he rode the bus to the game so we will take him and another player participating in fair up. Gonna be a long drive home!
