Binoculars Fixed Themselves.
« on: November 07, 2024, 08:38:35 AM »
So last year after hunting season I dropped my Nikon binoculars and the image looking thru them was all messed up. So this year I bought a pair of 10x50s I liked. This morning I was getting ready to ship them off under warranty and looked thru them, and now they are working just fine.

How does that work? :dunno:

My guess would be whatever piece fell out of place fell back in temporarily. I would still send them in if you're not on the hook for the repair cost  :dunno:

I agree with mtnwalker.

I once bought a cheap(~$60) scope.  It had a loose locking ring rattling around inside. Sometimes it would block the view through the scope. If I rattled it around sometimes I could see through alright (except for the oil/greese smudges it left on the inside of the glass.  I took it apart, re-installed the lock ring, cleaned the inside of the glass, and re-assembled.  It works fine still as a cheap scope on my 17hmr.

I generally wouldn't recommend taking apart scopes or binoculars and would send it in if covered by warranty.
