Saw some pics from the Swakane today. There was a bunch of snow. Not sure where the pics were taken.

Conditions would be about as bad as they could be given the current weather conditions.  Heavy snow a couple days ago.  Down low it is melting and daytime temps are well above freezing.....this turns the roads into elephant snot!!.  Freezes at night making all north facing slopes an ice skating rink.  Burch, Derby, Naham, canyons are going to be a nightmare.  All 4 chained is going to be a must this year if you plan on driving these roads.

Snow and ice...highly likely.  Again, chains would be necessary in my opinion.  A good set of boots would be the ticket this year.

Yup, they're always packed. And a backup pair as well.

How about Tibbets mountain road?
Tibbets is bad when its dry let alone in the snow and ice.  The guys going up it are using 4wheelers with tracks on them or snowmobiles.

I couldn't imagine it in snow or ice. That road is sketchy steep off the sides for the first mile or so. 😳😳

4x4 is a must. Get some chains, use your brain and let'r rip. Generally it's the north sides that get real sketchy. Been up and down both many of times during this hunt over the years. Yes there is pucker factor but not so much that it would stop me from trying unless it was pure ice.
