People think that it doesn't help but the dedicated few that won't give up have been keeping the commission at bay... I am convinced that without those who have committed the time at the meetings, the antis would have done way more damage.

I agree with you. It's at least slowing them down which is better than nothing.

Not sure the commission is going to change it's mind but we have to try. I think it's a shame they refuse to listen to the WDFW's own biologists.

New to WA and not plugged into it's game mgmt politics.

My experience in CA was the Commission made up of mostly bunny huggers and a token sportsman and maybe another bureaucrat who fly fishes so thinks he's a sportsman.  They may or may not listen to the science and the science may or may not be bought and paid for and/or presented to appeal to vs. compel the Commission. The head of the agency is more politician than game manager.  Ultimately feels > science.

So what are the battles re: bears and cats?  Seasons, bag limits, methods (dogs)?  What's been the trend by the Commission?

Can anyone tell me where the meeting is held?  I looked on the WDFW page and it doesn't say where except for Cle Elum.

EnglishSetter, bunch of issues and burnt bridges.  In fighting, commission often at odds with WDFW biologists, predator first attitude, questionable commission appointments, poor communication, ask Sammee J. on the wolf advisory group if she is pleased with WDFW, governor down system and the list could go on and on.  Looks like you are in Pianoman area, might make contact for more detail,  thanks for asking and commission meeting can often be a lesson in futility.

Washington is California north. We didn't get a new govenor that could straighten up the commission so I'm not sure we have many levers to pull on the absurd issues at hand.

Well I've been thinking 🤔
Not much for me to say to the commission.
Or talk about as far as cougar and bear go.
They already screwed my cougar season,as like today.
Day off right now,no snow in the valley, snow in the mountains, perfect weather and conditions for cougar hunting and I'm not hunting.

Bear I'm sure all they will talk about is changing opening dates.

I'm past the point of respectful dialogue with the commission.
Waste of my time, honestly anything I say will not reflect well on sportsmen/woman.

Wish you guys the best of luck, thank you for your continued support.

Here is a link to the meeting information

https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/commission/meetings/2024/11-14dec2024-agenda

Looks like they will be discussing cougar and bear on Friday but there is no public speaking time for this particular topic. You can talk about land acquisition or pigmy rabbits during those agenda items. I assume that means you just have to sign up at the beginning of the meeting Friday morning for general comment period if you want to talk bears and cougars.

You can also send written comments in advance of the meeting.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.
