I splurged… it is an excellent knife with a great feel. I like a stiffer blade and this one fits that bill. I was unaware of how easy this knife rusts but that was only a one time issue. Now it is taken care of before I put it away. Plus I like supporting local guys

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
Ended up getting him one of these at the outlet mall in Marysville on a very big discount. It’s more of a kitchen knife, but that’s what he’ll use it for, he does lots of smoking/ sous vide.
