Proposal WAC 220-415-090
« on: February 11, 2025, 01:30:19 PM »
So please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the justification for cancelling spring bear because of the concern of over harvesting sows with cubs?  If this is the case, spring bear should automatically be reinstated if this proposal happens?  :twocents:

That was one of the reasons given, and this proposal would certainly weaken the commission's case if implemented. The fact that they are proposing to reduce the season bag limit, though, tells me that they have some unwarranted (IMO) concern about population impacts from bear hunting. As far as I know, the biologists have no such concern, unless they've drastically changed their position since last year.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I hadn't heard about it, and I'll certainly be giving my input.

Your reasoning makes perfect sense, unfortunately the commission does not, they seem only interested in restricting hunter opportunity.

It’s a proposal to amend the WAC in the current season setting process. Here’s the link….
