How do you like the WP nighthawk? I was eyeballing that as a new panhead to run.

It's great for an ultra light head. Nice and smooth, locks in tight. I use a 65mm spotter with it, get a teeny bit of wobble when its windy but I think that's more the tripod than the head. I've also shot off of it a few times, probably wouldn't recommend doing it a bunch but so far so good. Biggest downside is the range of motion due to the handle, in certain positions the handle limits the tilt. Also pretty sure Tricer makes a similar knockoff for a bit cheaper but no experience with those

Been using a Sirui T-024SK since 2020 and recently swapped the VA-5 head for the Tricer LP. Great glassing setup.

Exo mountain gear 4800, I’m not caring unneeded stuff into the back country.

Glassing tripod is pretty necessary on a backcountry mule deer hunt.

The pack works well for that also.

Not really

Sirui ST-125 Va5 It’s a little heavier than some other options but it’s incredibly solid. My partner uses one of the Tricer’s but not sure which one. I like mine better but his is lighter.

I also film with a fairly heavy camera so it serves several purposes, especially in high winds like we had 2 weeks ago on a bear hunt in the Selway. I use it more in the spring for bear hunting than anything else. Lots of long days behind glass.

I like this one... its cheap, lightweight, small form factor... what more could you want
Woah! This is really tempting. Can it support the weight of a spotting scope on the head? Would be worried about it slipping.

I haven't had any issues with it with a Swaro ATC.  Small scope, but its all light and small enough that its not a problem to bring it with me.  Seems well machined for its size.  Figured I'd try it given the price point and I've been pretty impressed so far.
