The Hunt for a Next level buck…

| 2025, -17 degree Montana Public Land Buck |
It’s been awhile since I shot a real good buck, for good reason though. I set a goal for myself 4 years ago that I wanted to find myself an above average next level buck. Well after 7 outta state tags I finally found a buck worth putting my tag on. I could have easily filled my tag throughout the years. But I was determined and disciplined to find a good mature buck. I didn’t want to shoot a last minute tag filler to satisfy filling my tag. That’s not what I’m about. You never know when the hunt might flip and surprise you, even if it’s the last 10 minutes of shooting light.
Remember to stay positive, it’s not over until it’s over and predators never quit!
The frozen blob of Blood you see on his side is a shot from another Hunter earlier that morning.
The buck was walking around like he was never even hit.

That’s a great buck but this story is obviously false. Seems like every comment I’ve read from the Montana residents celebrating the reduction in non resident deer tags starting next year is justified because according to them every non resident shoots the first 2 point that wanders in front of their truck. I guess I’m doing it all wrong as I’ve come home from there empty handed more times than I can count! 😳
