Kokanee Fishing Derby Benefits Veteran Non-Profit
« on: March 02, 2026, 12:55:25 PM »
This annual fishing derby benefits the non-profit work of Cross the Divide, serving veterans and active duty members and their families.

The 5th Annual Kokanee Derby at Wallowa Lake brings anglers together June 19–20, 2026, for a fun and competitive fishing event benefiting veterans and their families. Hosted in Joseph, Oregon, the derby features a $2,500 first-place prize, additional cash and gear awards, and supports Cross the Divide’s outdoor programs that help veterans heal and reconnect through hunting and fishing experiences across the Pacific Northwest.

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

Been thinking of going this year. Maybe bring one of my grandsons. Is there plenty of camping or do you recommend a hotel room in town? Do I need a permit to bring a boat from Wa? Also any insight on where to find fish in the lake? North, South etc.

There is a State Park where you can camp, its fairly popular so I am guessing you would need to reserve it.  Joseph has a small motel off of my head but Enterprise would have more motel room but is farther away.
