Sapphire Hawk takedown longbow, for basically the same reasons as Ray...will add lightweight, simple and lightning fast deadly, not to mention beautiful and quiet.   No clanging metal parts.  Simple is better!

If money wasn't an option, no idea. Haven't followed them too much and the one in the classifieds looks pretty good.

ONE "type" of bow... Longbow.  Which one?  I've got a few and like 'em all.  Got my first Robin Hood with my Martin Mountaineer in 45#.  Have a gorgeous custom Take Down longbow in 50#... and then there's my Osage Orange backed with Bamboo with a little Bocote on the riser which tillered out at 65# @ 28" which I made last year (about this time).  It's basic archery... and generally speaking... if the arrows aren't doing what they should be... there's no one to blame but me. I've also got a pair of light longbows made by Rob Patterson in Montana... and an Internature Viper.  Well... then there's all the others... a bunch of older Bears... a few recurves.  In all, I've got about 30 bows.  Oh yeah... got a couple of vintage compounds too.

I shot Old Dog's Martin Bamboo Viper... LOVE that bow too.

thats funny i thought the other way around when i have shot each side by side about 20 times :chuckle:
i would buy the maxxis over the burner and the axe over the maxxis. the axe 6 is a little more vib than the 7 with it being fatser and shorter brace hight.

I think this is a hard one to answer. Most people shoot bows back to back at a shop when they are looking to buy. They go into the shop with all sort of info on the bow already, brand loyalty, speed, brace height, weight,a2a.. etc already twisting their opinion against another bow. I think to really get a good idea of how a bow shoots you have to spend as much time as you can behind a particular bow. It doesn't have to be walk in walk out with a bow sale.

I was a Hoyt freak buying a new rig every year not even trying out any other bow. Finally I broke down and spent some serious time behind every bow I could get my hands on. I came out hands down with a Mathews reezen 7 and I feel that was the best bow for me at the time. I instantly became a better shooter and it felt like it was custom made for me. I am going to keep this bow for another season as I like it that much. Next year I will be in search for a new bow and again will spend some time behind any bow I can shoot and then make a decision.

you can't fake it,
you gotta live it.

The alphaburners draw is too stiff for me.the carbon matrix is so friggin sweet words can't describe it, you just have to shoot it.I'm glad I didn't shoot the carbon matrix before I bought my maxxis, otherwise I would have been out another $7OO...

i shot pretty much all the bowtech hoyts pse mathews martins diamonds and my 2 favorits were the mathews DXT and the diamond iceman i bought the DXT and love it but there was alot of awsome bows out there the DXT just fit me perfect and is as smooth as silk and i can shoot real real good with it i did like a couple speed bows but i didnt like the fact that if you creped just alittle they would try and rip your arm out of the socket i think its up to each person to figure out which bow is best them spend the time to check them all out and buy the one that suits you the best whatever the price may be just get the best one you can for the $ you have to spend

My Bill Stewart MCTD recurve.  It's the best bow I have ever shot.

I love the diamond black ice. The draw cycle at 70lb feels like a 60lb bow, they shoot great and mine pushed my hunting arrows at 280+ which is fast enough for me.

My Hoyt Trykon XL; it isn't light but it sure shoots well.  I would upgrade to the Alphamax 35 if I could afford it.

I also shot alot of different brands before buying. It came down between the AlphaMax and the Iceman. Both very nice bows and I would buy a Hoyt any day. But the Iceman was a little smoother, less vibration and quieter. I have been pretty happy with it. But after shooting the same Martin for 15 years anything on the market was a improvement.
