I didn't think you could bowfish in Washington.  I've thought about giving it try.
The only difference between a butt kisser and a brown noser is depth perception.

Great here goes another several hundred bucks and myriad weekends that my wife can complain about!  Cool idea to add some quality info that the rest of us can bank on.  I may be out giving it a go one of these days.

there was another guy who was telling me they might do a 20 biggest format this year which i am all for. no limit on people in the boat shooting 10 biggest each day 2 days the way to do it. the one in moses lake is total weight only 2 shooters. they have a web site for that shoot but i have yet to see one for the tri cities one he talked about. the one for moses lake is usally fathers day.

I would love to get set up, I bought a couple arrows last year and thought I would give it a try on tuna, well didn't work out on my setup too well. Didn't get a shot at a tuna anyhow, but did take a shot at a 6' blue shark. I was conected to the arrow with a split ring :bash:, near miss on the shark and a $15 arrow rocketting the bottom of the blue when the split ring spread open :bash:. I was shooting an old PSE Lazer @ 70 lbs, probably not the best setup  :dunno: I also shoot a 45lb recurve ,would this be a better choice. I'm sure an albicore would blow up one of the zebco reels I see alot of guys using on carp, and unless I can shoot heavy blue tuna chord I'm not realy interested in hand lineing a tuna on braid, so I was attempting to have the arrow attached to a cheap stout rod like a shakespear sturdy stick with 20yards of line wraped on a spool off my stabilizer, and the rod/reel drag free/clicker on. Not as much for the shot but the initial run of the fish.

Oh btw it's not just carp in WA, but pallegic species are open to bow too. Maybe I should try some carp to get tuned in but any advice you may have getting set for tuna would be apreciated. I'm sure I'll take the bow out again this summer and give it another try, I figure what the hell if we get into some jumpers I might get a shot couldn't do anymore loin damage then a bad gaff job, then there is always the possibilty of a clean head shot :).

yes it is not just carp but i like others to do the research and not get into trouble shooting other fish, i am very aware of the laws

i got the hook up for you go to ams bowfishing they make the same reel like you see on my bows that is slotted so after the shot the line goes out and instead of being attached to the bow/reel it is to a float that you detrime the size of. i have seen 300lb sharks boated and 250 pound gar and aligators as well. they sell very heavy cord that you can put in this reel as well and will work for what you are doing. this will be a killer setup and boat about anything you stick. the ams slides are the way to go you will see them in the other posts that i have on here in my other treads very tuff and will get the job done and keep you safe.

you 45 pound recuvre would be just fine but i see no reason not to use the lazer on the tuna and such my oneida that i shoot is set at 68lbs and it blows threw carp like nothing most bows used for bowfishing are in the 30-50lb range

here you go tonto did the work for you :chuckle: check it out.

http://www.amsbowfishing.com/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=264

much safer than the old arrow to fishing pole. you can use bigger floats let them drag it and tire them seleves out. you can use small floats but most use bigger floats like ancor bouys and such

We do have a float on board useualy to attach to a halibutt harpoon if needed I could bungie it to a length of tuna cord, wich is heavy blue nylon cord probably 1/8" diameter.
