looking for a good, cheap longbow. not cheap quality just cheap price. had my eye on the saphire hawk but don't want to spend that kind of money on my first longbow. just wanted to try out a longbow so i know which one i like better (recurve or longbow). already tried compound don't like them.

Cheap longbow may not be the way to learn about them. The cheaper longbows may be difficult to shoot and some will have handshock that will cripple your elbow.
Try and find someone in your area that could let you shoot one before you buy.
There are also different style longbows, R/D, D shape, and three piece hybrids.
You can pick up a used one for little more than half price if you look hard enough.
Go to Tradgang.com and check out the classifieds.

Martin makes a nice longbow that shoots well and is inexpensive. No more than normal longbow hand shock.

I just got my little girl a new long bow from Bear Mt Archery in Vancouver Wa... Brock is a good guy and makes the bow and twists the strings.... I've shot the 3d @ Chinook archery club with him a couple of times... he builds some nice bows.  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

You can get those ones made in China called the Samick Sage takedown. People say that even though they are mass produced that the quality is good. Less than 150 dollars and it's a hunting weight bow.

If you decided to upgrade this one looks like you can turn it into a bowfishing setup.

I have a martin  ml10 that I would sell you for a c-note and a bit if you can swing a 70# longbow. I only shot it for a week and then tore a ligament in my shoulder.....I am now in the girls draw weight club.
