Hunting Camp Pics
«

One of the best parts of this site for me are the pics. Some of the best have been all the different hunting camp pics. From Cascade's camp last elk season with nice clean wall tent and 10 cords of firewood to Coonhounds bivy sack on the top of a mountain many miles from the nearest road.
Let's see some more hunting camp pics
. Here is a typical Wea300mag camp in Montana or on an extended hunt here in WA.
I have also made impromtu camps like this one in a wide spot in the road. Some on here may have seen it as it was last year on the Poorman Cr Rd in the Methow on opening weekend. We received lots of comments from passers by including the game warden.

300, you beat me to it! Great idea. Your wall tent is a proper camp.
We have a mule deer camp in the same place in the Okanogan. We have invitees stopping for miles around to drink our coffee in the morning and beer at night. Lot of good stories told in hunting camp!
I remember as a kid, wishing shooting hours would end so Dad would take me back to camp. I was rubber-legged tired, but when we got back to camp it was a new day. Something magical about a proper camp. Still works for me now.

The first is a 9 day drop in Alaska, ya that little thing was home when it rained too
The next is the standard set up when we go to Colorado. The main tent, on the right is the sleeping quarters, on the left is for the food and tack.
I have never just taken pics of camp, I am going to start doing that. I like the pics you guys posted

Here is Cascade's camp pic I mentioned in the first post. There is just something special about having a firewood supply like that. Here is a link to their thread. I hope they don't mind me reposting it.

Dang 300, I'll have to compare pics but that second picture looks like "my elk camp" spot sometimes. Funny. Great pictures guys.

300, looks like they're staying the whole season! We stack deer up like cord wood, but you can't burn them.
Here's our whiskey bar and bunk quarters.

For us it takes two days. We pitch the tent and get most everything erected the first day after driving to camp. On Friday we cut a cord of firewood and take care of details. There's four of us so your looking at 64 man hours just getting the props in place. After that we stay two weeks. That's 1/25th of a year just about, so we like to have things just so.
It's a lot of work, but we like doing it the old way. Some of our partners have gone to their maker -- men who came in on jeep trails and had to roll rocks out of the way in the middle of the night just to get to camp. They hunted in saddle shoes and rolled cigarettes by hand. So it's a tradition we just don't want to forget.
Here's the meat pole in 2007. Still worth it.

Here are some pics of out late buck hunt 2008. Up for 2 weeks. It is the same tent that is in cascades camp as we are hunting partners. Let me tell you we cut a lot of wood all season and got drunk many nights in that tent. The tent was up for I think 6 weeks strait from general deer to late buck. Lots of good animals this year to.
