Savage or Remington 700!  I wouldn't own a Ruger if you gave it to me, but that's just personal preference.

I wasn't fond of the early models, but the new models are nice looking rifles.  What don't you like about them?

Yeah, what dont you like about rugers? They are tough and dependable. Mine shoots under moa even with the 7lb trigger. Okay, so the triggers a little heavy, but it dont creep, what else dont you like? I know everyone has their reasons, Im just curious. :P

I had a 3 in different calibers (.308, .300 win mag and .22-.250) many years ago when I was still shooting long range and couldnt get any of them to shoot a decent group. No. it wasn't operator error because I could pick up my Browning or H&K and drive nails all day wit them.  I didn't like the triggers and the action was too cumbersome.  I could fix the workings and the trigger but not the barrels.  Like I said, it was a long time ago and I am sure they are better but just not my cup of cheese.

Next time you have a chance, take a look at the new Hawkeye.  I'd be interested to know if you think otherwise.  I had a stainless 77 left hand 270 a few years ago but never really liked it.  I couldn't really figure out why, it just didn't feel good.  It shot fine, and after an antelope hunt, I sold it.  I really like the feel of the new version.  Of course, it they don't shoot, who cares what the feel like...

My next one is going to be a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .243.  I think that I am done buying big bore rifles for a while.

I just got one in 22-250.  I like it, but the butt stock is hollow which gives the rifle an unbalanced feeling to me.  I'll mount it in a Mcmillan stock soon.  I thought about filling in the hollow space with something to try and balance the thing out, and may try that before I go Mcmillan.

I have one in a 223rem. Accurate rifle.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

Even with the hoolow stock my 223rem. produces 1/2" groups.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

Biggest bang for the buck is a Marlin XL7.  Love my Ruger77 (late 70's vintage with the varminter trigger). I'm sure there's another Ruger in new vintage that I'd like.
