Goose egg for me! Oh well I still know some really great moose hideouts within 40 miles of my parents house. Now if I just had the time to get up there...

How could you not get a sheep in the TOK unit? Who was your guide?

Myself, and the wife. I was a resident then did not need a guide. We were 27 miles up the tok river on quads. Went up one drainage about 8 miles in on foot. Seen at least 10 mature rams. Bedded down for the night and spent the next 4 days trying to find them. And had to get back the Army only gave us a week of leave. All in all it was a fun hunt we had a blast.

Yea I would love to draw that tag. Have been putting in for it for years. One of those permits you want to hire a guide to fly you in and who knows the area. The guy I use lives right there..

Joe-
Archery tag?

the tok one was for rifle, the eagle river tags were both archery.

Don't get me wrong, I truly wish we had got a sheep, but it was one of the most memorable hunts we have been on, from the grizzly bears, the wolfs, 3 of the biggest moose I have ever seen. all the way down to the whisperlite stove blowing up on us,  to flipping my quad over in the river. There are a lot of memories on it. If we could have stayed longer we would have gotten one. I was looking for a big one. And we just flat out enjoyed ourselves.

Joe, Like you say its not all about gettinging something sometimes its the experience. If it was all about getting something I wouldn't have packed my rear into the Brooks and Wrangell mountains just to pack someone elses sheep out. Fortunately enough I have my dall sheep. Its especially good to share the experience with someone else.

I have mine also from the Wrangells, so wanted momma to be along on this hunt, it was either a DIY or pay to be dropped off with plane at 2000.00 a piece we opted to have fun with it.

I drew DS204 this year.  It's the Delta unit.  I'll be hunting August 30th through September 8th for a ram.

It's the motorized season and my partner, who also won the tag, has wheelers.

Once again living in AK has it's privleges.  The spring bear hunting this year should prove fun too.

If I score I'll be sure to share a photo or two with you guys here on the WA hunting site.

Sweet! Good luck to you, which permit did you draw? I drew DS140 two years ago along with my hunting partner. I missed a running shot at a nice 34-38" class ram at 20yds and my partner somehow shot straight into a rock at a ram about 12 yds away. That ram was better than full curl probably in the 36" range.
Had a chance to take a banana horn the third day but passed. I grew up hiking the Chugach National Park at least three days a week in the summer, we had a good hunt but three years later are still REALLY UPSET at ourselves for blowing the opprtunities we had.
