In a way I am doing both. I have located a couple of mature Eastern gobblers roosts. I am going to hunt hard from Fri 04/15 through Wed 04/19 and try to harvest the bigger of the two. Thu 04/21 I'm rolling to the Klickitat and will spend at least a week trying to put the habeous grabbous of a pair of Merriam longbeards.

Why would you not go out? It's always going to be better than stayin home.

Heading out either Thursday night, April 14 or having to wait til the monring of the opener.  Klickitat County here we come.  Set up three ground blinds two weeks ago so the birds would get used to them.  Tons of long beards including a double bearded old boy.  Hoping he is the one!
"A peculiar virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter ordinarily has no gallery to applaud or disapprove of his conduct.  Whatever his acts, they are dictated by his own conscience, rather than that of onlookers.  It is difficult to exaggerate the importance of this fact"

I think I know what it feels like to be a heroin junkie looking for a fix. The only thing keeping me from the opener will be an avalanche that closes the pass.

Otherwise, gobblers be warned...

But no matter what happens, I'd like to thank this forum for being so gracious in sharing your knowledge.

My first gobbler is your gobbler.

I will be heading toward Klickitat Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday......have to then wait until the following weekend to go out again.  Or maybe I can find an Eastern on the West side after work during the week......now that would be awesome!

Tree planting at Mt. St. Helens on the 16th, so probably not until the 23rd. There are still some volunteer spots open for the planting if anyone wants to help restore the eroded elk habitat there. We have 5000 trees to plant with about 20-25 people. This is approved habitat restoration for Master Hunter hours. More info at http://wildelk.org/default.asp
