You go ahead and take your bow. I'll tote my .308 and shoot what you can't reach.
I might try the bow on the 2nd bear after I already have one in the freezer.

Gotta get the easy one out of the way first... :chuckle:

Will try to head out Aug 1st. I need more bear sausage anyway.

Good luck to all. Be safe!

Re: almost time. Bear hunt and scout the Elk situation

I am using my August bear hunt to trial my new Yamaha TW 200 with GPS equiped for roads and trails and my new Remington SPS .300 Win Mag.  I am looking to purchase an electric caller for predators.  I will bring my elk bugle along and try it out as there is elk in the area I hunt.  Answer to the processing bear meat question:  I had 164 pounds of bear meat I boned myself.  Stewarts Meats in McKenna, WA does a great job with their receipes.  I had half made into Garlic Snack and Beer Snack.  It is 2 inch sausage in 16-20" folded coils.  Plus the deer meat 49 pounds made into pepperoni total cost $325.00.  It is a little expensive but it is worth it as everybody in the family eats and enjoys it.  It is nice to put out for snacks cut up into quarter sized bits with cheese and crackers.  It freezes well but don't thaw too much at a time as I found it molded up after about 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

I'm pretty excited as well. I can't believe it's next month already. I think I'm going to have all of mine made into sausage.

I have to wait until mid Aug down here.  Found a lot of new spots last year but was always a few days behind them.  This is the year I get one though.   :chuckle:
