I just heard about this on a archery forum. What are your thoughts and experiences?
But love of the wilderness is more than a hunger for what is always beyond reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth which bore us and sustains us, the only home we shall ever know, the only paradise we ever need - if only we had eyes to see.

You should have listed it as (deer/elk/bear/people).  I know after about an hour in a tree-stand I'd be down there eating it.  Sounds delicious!

I've used vanilla extract as a cover scent before for whitetails.  I stood in some bushes that were right on the trail and had deer walk right past me.  Eventually a buck came by and stood about 2 feet away....I couldn't take it any longer and touched him with the barrel and then he flipped out and ran off.  I only used it for the real close hunting when I crawl under logs and trees above trails.  I would get the big bottles of vanilla and put in a spray bottle.  Then saturate my clothes and let them dry.  The morning I would go out, I'd spray them again.

Don't get caught using vanilla when bear hunting.....
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

I've tried peanut butter I have ton of blacktail coming through an area and having a tough time getting them to hold up. They never touched it, only helped bring in the yotes'  so I pulled it.  Try it see if it works it's not going to cost you anything.

Wont that attract insects as well?
