I have had good luck with Nosler Custom Ammo! Grain size depends on the gun but for my 30.06 I use the 165gr and my 300wsm I use the 180gr partition!

I use 200 grain Accubond 300 Ultra Mag hand loaded with Hodgdon Retumbo. This goes for elk as well. Deadly accurate and consistant. With light winds I will not hesitate to take an 800 - 1000 yard shot.

best advice for FNG is look at the box before you buy, nearly every maker of modern ammunition puts a picture or chart on the box showing what they intended that ammo to be used for when it was made. I.E. a buck on 30-06 150gr psp, pic of elk on 180's, ground squirrels on 223 50gr, etc. etc.
good luck and be safe out there people!

I usually run my Ruger .243 and 85 TSX, but I'll be carrying my Tikka T3 .300 WSM with 180 Nosler SolidBases this weekend.

IMO,165s are the best all around choice for an '06. I shoot 165gr Accubonds out of mine.
Interesting to see the guys with the big magnums shooting light bullets. Light bullets look good at first, but the heavier stuff outperforms the light bullets as the range increases.
