Mostly fine.
Occasionally slow to load.
Once in awhile timed out.

It was worse on Monday for me.  Better since, but still hiccups from time to time.

Bearpaw posted just a few days ago that the site membership went over 12000 I believe and he kind of stated that the pressure on the server from that was being seen.  There is a contribution link too.

We've had fewer members online the last couple weeks but the server load has been close to max. We're not sure why, but we have been trying a few things to resolve the problem.

I've always heard and read with SMF, that one of its weaknesses as related to this forum are some of the super threads, ones with lots of posts.  For some reason its the replies more than the content.   I wonder about some of our contest threads and some of our super threads(usually game threads) In the past I have split or purged some of them for that reason.  I haven't done it lately.    Its something to consider anyway.   I purged the recycle.  Another chore I used to do periodically.  I doubt that helps much.

I will talk to Matthew about the super threads, he is on the SMF team so he has a very good understanding of how SMF functions. He has been trying several restarts of various functions but we are still experiencing high user loads even though members haven't been as active the last couple weeks.

We have a huge number of topics, he couldn't believe the size of the files on this forum, but I don't want to lose good stories and data so I have tried to save everything. I'll see what he says.

Matthew thinks it's a problem in the log files, he's away from his computer now but will try to locate the problem later this evening. That is beyond my capability so we will have to wait for him to look at it.

Here is the error message I get a lot lately:

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
