According to the TNT shortly after noon the Ranger hadn't been taken out of the park yet and shots were still being fired.  KIRO, KING and KOMO have even less info.  Troyer was also asking news helo's to stay away.

According to KCPQ it's a female FS Ranger who made a felony stop.  They finally reached her at 1245.

I am not trying to make light of the situation by any means. But who the hell proof reads some of these articles...

This taken off of the King5 page: "MOUNT RAINIER, Wash. – A U.S. Forest Service ranger at Mount Rainier National Park has been shot and killed, and the gunman is at large.

The shooting occurred at 10:11. near Longmire Ranger Station. The condition of the ranger is not known."

How has she been shot and killed, but the condition of the ranger is not known??

backup is not usually readily available to natural resource le officers such as wdfw or nps. To say she should have called for back up after finding out she died is rather disturbing

For those familiar with the area TNT says Barnes Flat area.

They said that the suspect had been stopped at 1011 by another ranger and fled in his vehicle.  The deceased Ranger was monitoring a roadblock and stopped him shortly before 1100.   She was shot and the suspect then fled on foot.
