Stuck Choke

I have a stuck choke, and have tried using various penatrating compounds with no success, and even tried to heat the barrel last night by keeping  the barrel on top of the woodstove for 10 minutes.  Nothing seems to work, and before I ship it off to the manafacture does any body have any remodies for removing a stuck choke? I forgot to say, Im running out of room for using the choke wrench as the grooves are starting to round with repeated attempts on it. Thanks for any help in this.

Don't heat the barrel, stop with the wrench if it's stripping the grooves, and get it to a smith or someone with the right tools. Next time be sure to pull the choke and put choke tube lube on it after every hunt. When the season is over and you plan on storing your gun for a while pull the choke and leave I out. They get stuck pretty easy and it's fairly common. Good luck

Carlsons makes a choke tube wrench that goes inside the choke and it expands outward. This is the one I use so I never have the stripped notches. Soak it with Kroil penetrating oil.

Make your own with 50/50 atf and acetone. Be careful with the heat double guns are soldered as are the ribs. The expanding wrench is getting close to your last home remedy if you strip the notches.

Give it the kroil, and let it sit for a couple days re applying often. It will come.

Thanks for the input, I stopped by ACE and they were sold out.  I will stop by again next week and see if htey have any Kroil on hand.  That choke tube wrench looks great, I plan on ordering it

Seth, you are going to pay about $10 for 8oz of kroil, and for about even money, you can mix up a ton yourself. I had a REM700 ejector that was so stuck I could not move it with a punch. I soaked it for a couple days....it moves freely now.

Do you mean pooring the liquid into a container and then standing the gun up barrle first and letting it sit for a few days?  I have tried a remington brand of a breaking compound by squirting in between the choke tube and barrell.  Did this on several applications over several hours

Stand the barrel up in a corner, muzzle down in a glass cup or jar (acetone may attack some plastics) fill it up with the mix. Forget about it for a couple days.....repeat as necessary. You are going to have to shake the atf/acetone mix a bit to blend it.

When you get that choke out, another good lube is Shooters Choice all purpose grease. It comes in a 10cc syringe. I use it on my choke threads and I use it to lube my over under shotgun when I put it together.
