2012 Governor's Moose Tag Auction Sat Feb 25
« on: February 21, 2012, 12:37:54 PM »
I have donated my services for the Governor Moose Tag and I was asked by the SCI Northwest Chapter Auction chairman to post this notice on the forum, they want to be sure everyone has an opportunity at buying this permit, it's my understanding the funds are used for wildlife management.

Governor’s Moose Tag
Donated by:  Washington State

This Moose permit is good for September 1 – December 31, 2012 for use in any GMU open to Moose hunting except those GMU’s that are closed by the Fish & Game commission. Bag Limit is ONE ADDITIONAL ANY BULL MOOSE. You may use any legal weapon of your choice and hunt during any open season within the date and boundary parameters.

BONUS FEATURE:  Bearpaw Outfitters is the most experienced moose hunting guide in Washington. All of Washington's Shiras Moose hunting units are located in Northeast Washington, right where Bearpaw Outfitters have conducted hunts for over 30 years. Past hunters have taken some very nice moose and success is almost always 100% because Bearpaw Outfitters live in the local area, they know the moose areas extremely well, and they are always scouting throughout the year.  Dale Denny has generously offered to guide the buyer of the Governor’s Moose Tag free of charge. Buyer is not obligated to use Bearpaw’s professional guide services.

Thats totally cool Dale... thank you! It ought to bring the tag price up a bit. Any guesses as to what it will go for?? If the muley tag went for $25K... will this get more? It should in my opinion...

Question though... are you "donating" a 7 day hunt? Or "help" all season long? If I (which I wont) bought this tag for big money, say 25k plus, I'd be holding out for the biggest dam shiras moose possible...he'd HAVE to go 160+.... ok...well, he wouldnt "have to" if he had a certain look... but that "look" would probably get him over 160!

Last year we had Jim Shockey at the Spokane SCI Banquet. It was the best banquet I have ever been to. The Shockey's are as nice of people as you will ever meet in the industry and he puts on an outstanding presentation.

If you ever wanted to attend an SCI Banquet, go to this one on Feb 25th:  http://www.scinw.com/2012banquet.html

If I had Dan Agnew kind of money, I'd be all over a Governor's Moose.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

 Thanks, Bearpaw, that's great!
We are going to have a booth there as well, and we donated a gift certificate towards a mount for the chapter. Cedar River Taxidermy.
We give your trophy that final compliment!

How mucb could one expect to pay for that hunt? 100$ to maybe 500$.

It's hard to say what it will bring but I expect over $10,000. I have heard of it bringing less than $10,000 a few years back so with this economy maybe someone will get a real good deal. I heard the whitetail tag only brought about $3500, that was a steal for that tag.

There were some dandy moose seen last fall that I think are still around. Alwine had a monster moose spotted, so did Archery Outfitters, and when we were moose hunting we saw 3 bulls that I am sure were book moose, we had chances at two of them but couldn't quite close the deal, the third jumped in the road on our way out after we had already killed a moose an hour earlier, he was right in front of my rig, all I can say is that he was enormous, probably 11 or 12 pts per side and 55ish wide, looked like an alaskan moose....  :yike:

I would of found something to sell to bid on that if I knew they were giving it away! :yike:

If i had the dimes and the time I would go, but times are tight at my house. The new puppy requires lots of new toys and attention.

I'm guessing the upper teens: $15K to $20K.  The goat permit auctions for around $8K to $10K, and a moose is more desirable in my opinion.
